Potawatomi Zoo Reviews

We just went recently, so it’s still fresh in my mind, and the zoo felt smaller than I thought it would. The layout was a little awkward too — some areas were easy enough to walk, but with kids it got tiring having to go back and forth. It wasn’t awful or anything, but after just being there, I don’t really feel like it was worth the trip for us.

I took my kids here on a Saturday, and it reminded me of the kind of zoo trips my family used to do when I was little. We had a really nice time. The zoo was easy to walk around, not overwhelmingly big, and the animals all seemed well cared for. The only downside was that the food options were a bit limited, and it got crowded near the train. Still, it was a fun family visit and definitely worth checking out with kids.

The paths were dirty, there was trash around, and the whole place just looked like nobody was really keeping up with it. It felt kind of neglected, like the grounds just weren’t being cared for much.

I signed up thinking the membership perks would make it worth it, and at first I figured maybe I just needed to use them more, but they didn’t do much for me. The discounts barely seemed to apply, and the guest passes sounded nice until I actually tried to use them and ended up more confused than anything.

Trying to buy tickets online was a pain. The checkout kept failing, and after a few tries I pretty much gave up. I guess it happens, but it was still annoying and not the easiest experience

I was checking the zoo site on a whim for seasonal stuff like Boo at the Zoo and holiday events, and my first reaction was, oh nice, there’s actually a lot going on throughout the year. It definitely made me want to plan a visit.
That said, I kept getting a little frustrated because ticket info and times weren’t always obvious right away. I had to click around more than I expected, which isn’t a huge deal, but if you’re trying to plan with kids, clearer details would make it way easier

I took my kids on the carousel during our zoo visit, and they really enjoyed it. It actually reminded me of going on carousels with my parents when I was little, so it was kind of sweet watching them get excited over the animals. The ride was clean, smooth, and the staff was friendly enough. The line moved faster than I expected too. My only small complaint is that I wish the ride lasted a bit longer for the price, but overall it was a fun little break in the day.

It was so crowded I could barely move around. There were lines everywhere, and kids were literally getting pushed past just trying to get through. It wasn’t fun at all and really felt like they let way too many people in.

I was hoping for more. We waited around for quite a while, and then the actual ride was over so fast it made me wonder if I’d been kind of fooled into expecting something bigger. Not the worst experience, but definitely disappointing for the time we spent waiting

I bought my tickets through potawatomizoo.org, and overall it felt safe and straightforward. The checkout process was normal, there weren’t any sketchy pop-ups, and my confirmation came through quickly. I do think sites that take payments have a responsibility to be really clear about security, so I’d appreciate seeing more info on that. But based on my experience, it felt like a trustworthy way to get tickets.

The zoo itself was nice, but the parking situation was frustrating. I feel a little stupid for trusting that it would be easy, especially with kids in tow. The lot felt tight when we got there, and we had to circle around before finally finding a spot. It wasn’t the worst experience ever, but it definitely wasn’t as smooth or convenient as I expected.

I booked an educational program for my kid’s group, and I don’t know why, but I was expecting it to be a lot more organized. The info on the website didn’t really match what we ended up getting, and the session was shorter than we thought it would be. The staff were nice, so I’ll give them that, but the kids spent way too much time just waiting around. Overall, it just didn’t feel worth the hassle for us.

Took my kids to Potawatomi Zoo, and one thing that stood out was the bathrooms were not a huge hassle, which sounds small but really matters when you’ve got kids running around.

We never had to do some long, annoying walk across the whole place when somebody suddenly had to go. The restrooms we used were mostly clean, maybe a bit crowded here and there, but nothing too bad or gross.

I’d give it 4 stars because it worked out fine overall. My only thing is they could use a few more signs pointing you toward the closest restroom, because sometimes you’re kind of just guessing where to head.

We had a nice time at Potawatomi Zoo. The staff were super friendly and helped us find our way a couple times when we got a little turned around, which was really appreciated. We booked the animal encounter and feeding thinking it would be a little more hands-on. it felt rushed, and the staff didn’t really explain much, they mostly just moved us from one spot to the next. My kids still enjoyed seeing the animals up close, so it wasn’t a total miss, but for the price, I definitely expected more time and better info. The website made it sound more exciting than it actually was. Not terrible, but I wouldn’t say it was worth it for us...

We went on kind of a warm day and it was a bit rough. A lot of the walking areas had barely any shade, or at least it felt that way, and trying to find a bench was kind of a pain. We had kids with us, so we needed to stop here and there, but a lot of the time we just ended up standing around. The zoo itself was fine enough, but the lack of places to sit and cool off made it way less enjoyable

I tried using the website on my phone and gave up after a few minutes. Basic info felt weirdly hidden, like they didn’t actually want me to find it, and some pages loaded in this glitchy, half-broken way. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but it almost felt designed to frustrate people.

We had a good visit to the zoo and found it fairly easy to get around with a wheelchair. Most of the paths were smooth, and the staff were friendly and helpful whenever we had a question. A few of the signs could be a bit clearer, but overall it was a comfortable and manageable experience.

The zoo was okay once we finally got inside, but wow, the line to get in took forever. The admission booths were moving super slow and it didn’t feel like there were enough staff helping out. We had kids with us and they were already tired and cranky before we even made it through the entrance. hope they figure out a better system for the wait times.
